    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Helping run the payroll for around 10,000 employees across the UK whilst staying compliant with different legislations. Work closely with other corporate and hotel teams to input employee data into the system to ensure employees are paid correctly. Analysing employee data for variances in pay and investigating why this may be. Working with HMRC and adapting to legislation updates to stay compliant.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I took on tasks often performed by the analysts on the team and occasionally picked up tasks performed by the senior analysts. I also got the opportunity to train new analysts coming into the team which was a great responsibility to enhance my skills.

  • I received a lot of support from my manager, team leaders and the team in general. If I had questions or didn't feel confident with a task there was always someone I could ask to support me, helping my confidence build in doing tasks.

  • Great culture across the whole company, lots of opportunities to network and socialise with other teams as well as opportunities to volunteer in the community and take part in charity fund raisers.

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I really enjoyed my placement and highly recommend Hilton, there were so many opportunities given to me to help me develop during my time there. I received lots of support from my team as well as the HR and recruitment teams setting up intern check ins and 1-2-1 recruitment advice sessions.
