Overview
As an Internal Auditor at Hilton I conduct a wide range of different audit types including: GSA audits, SOC 1, SOX testing (DE to OE2) and property audits. As well as auditing I'm also the lead Auditboard technical administrator within EMEA, meaning I have full admin rights within Auditboard to deal with any technical issues someone may have and I also facilitate the surveys, audits, projects etc. that need creating. I will also often be tasked with largescale internal data analysis projects, for example: I've done studies on our audit performance over the last 5 years and looked to see which controls need changing I've also looked into team member performance and risk exposure per audit. I'm also involved in the Generations TMRG and Thrive Mosaic.
Skills
Accounting proficiency, Excel, Auditboard, Financial Literacy, Presenting.
Responsibilities
This varied, audit is a very seasonal profession so yes during property audits and busy SOX periods, but in non busy periods I wasn't given much responsibility.
Support & Guidance
My job was almost completely remote so naturally that meant receiving less guidance, however I would hold regular calls with different members of the team and support was always available to me if needed.
Culture
The company culture at Hilton is very good, they make an effort to be a friendly and fun place to work, they have quite a flexible approach to getting work done. The atmosphere is good with lots of events always being on, however I think given the fact that most teams are only in the office twice a week and the office is in Watford so most people drive in(making work drinks tricky), it seems to me that people aren't that close compared to other offices and there is no real social atmosphere outside of work.
Your Impressions
I definitely enjoyed my placements, I was able to travel to many new and exciting countries and had a great team that got on very well, the only downside for me being the lack of face to face time with the team.
No
They are mainly looking for somebody they would want to work with, the airport test isn't uncommon and my advice would be to come across as enthusiastic, honest and a nice person.
