Overview
My role includes managing a shared HR inbox, assisting my manager with HR consulting queries, supporting team projects, and contributing creatively to the Team Member Resource Group and Mosaic Committee
Skills
I've built resilience from working in a corporate job and adapted to a new environment. Managing multiple tasks from different colleagues has also developed my self-management skills.
Responsibilities
During my placement, I was entrusted with some responsibilities, although they were limited in scope compared to a full-time role. This experience enabled me to learn and develop at a manageable pace while still contributing effectively to the team. However, I would have appreciated the opportunity to take on additional responsibilities.
Support & Guidance
I received support from my university tutor and some colleagues within the team, but I believe there could have been more effective systems to identify when individuals are having difficulties with their manager relationships.
Culture
The company fosters a positive culture with numerous events designed for networking and socializing among team members. Employees are encouraged to share their ideas and collaborate to achieve common goals.
Your Impressions
I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement year, particularly forming long-lasting friendships with fellow interns. Despite realising that the role was not well-suited to me and facing a challenging management environment, I have nonetheless gained a wealth of knowledge and developed numerous skills.

My advice to others applying to Hilton is to embrace the opportunity to learn and grow, even if the tasks may seem limited at first. Make the most of the support available, seek out additional responsibilities proactively, and engage in the company's positive culture and networking events. Building strong relationships with colleagues and other interns can be invaluable for your personal and professional development.
