    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I had an excellent time during my internship at Towers Watson, it was a very rewarding experience.

    4/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • From day one I was welcomed into the team and had involvement with client projects. At the same time everyone understands the position you're in and I received loads of support.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I had fantastic support during my internship. In addition to my project managers who assisted me with the bulk of my work, I had a buddy and a line manager who were more than happy to discuss any problems I was having. In terms of guidance, I had very clear objectives and regular meetings to make sure I was able to achieve these.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • Very busy, the work I was delegated took up the vast majority of my internship. If I finished ahead of schedule, I would simply inform my managers and they would provide me with more work to do. In addition, I offered to help others around the office and through this met loads of new people and got involved with some really interesting work.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I was given a lot of responsibility, everyone left you to get on with your work in your own way and trusted that it would be completed to the highest order. Naturally, as I was an intern my work was checked over upon completion. In addition, I had a small amount of client contact, just a few e-mails.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • Naturally that depends whether or not I pursue a career in the same field. If so, I feel very well equipped. More generally though, I developed my problem solving, analytical, presentation, communication and many other skills. All of which will be valuable in whichever career I choose to pursue.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • There was a hard working yet friendly atmosphere. For the most part people quietly get on with their work. However as soon as I had a problem I felt as though I could ask any of my colleagues for assistance and everyone is very helpful and understanding. It was also reasonably sociable, there was time for general chat and I quickly got to know everyone sitting around me well.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • Very well organised, the support structure was excellent. The work was accessible yet challenging. There was a lot of training to aid our work and lots of exposure to different people in the business.

    4/5
