The Role
I really enjoyed undertaking this internship. They made a big effort to make out time enjoyable by having socials such as a boat party and made sure we felt included in all the office activities such as ultimate frizbee. This created a very enjoyable atmosphere to work in.
I felt very valued by my colleagues. I was given meaningful work to do from day one and felt that I was really contributing to the team.
There was a mid internship review to let us know how we were getting on and to give us guidance on any areas that might need improvement. If I ever had any questions or concerns there was always somebody there to answer them.
The first two or so weeks were quite slow as we settled in however since then there was a steady flow of work. I always got to leave by half five at the latest so was never completely swamped but most days there was more than enough to keep me busy.
As well as given smaller jobs here and there I was given two ongoing projects to keep ownership of throughout the internship.
I have learnt a lot about the pensions industry and about this specific job which I'm not sure will relate to my degree in economics hugely. However the general experience of completing the internship such as having to manage my time will be very useful in many aspects of life.
The Company
Very friendly. Everyone was always more than happy to answer questions. They operate a hot desking policy which gives the opportunity to get to know many people and not sit beside the same people everyday. Overall it seems to be a very social office.
We had an induction day outside of the office to learn more about the company. On our first day in the office we had a welcome meeting then were shown to our desk where out laptops were already set up for us. We were given very clear instructions on how to set everything else up. The structure of the internship was laid out to us with a mid internship review. It all felt very organised.
A lot of training was offered by the company. All of the interns were given 3 training sessions each about 2 hours long in the first week. In these we were taught about the software used by the company so that when we were given work we were able to get on with it. Whenever I was delegated work whoever was giving it to me would take the time to explain it fully including the bigger picture of what it was used for. Often it would probably take somebody more time explaining a task to me then it would for them to do it themselves but they still took the time to ensure that I learnt something and could be useful.

I would love the opportunity to work here again as a graduate.
The Culture
Very good. We were lucky enough to start around the time that a lot of the actuarial exam results were released which meant that our first two Fridays consisted of going to the pub at 12 to celebrate! As well as that there was an office boat party, an intern lunch at pizza express, a softball tournament, ultimate frizzbee, after work drinks every Friday and more! We also had to organise an intern social for the rest of the office.
As it is based in Central London it wasn't the cheapest area but as I go to university in London as well I don't feel that affected me.
Very good, as a 西瓜视频 here I already knew about much of the nightlife and was able to continue going out at weekends throughout the internship.
Yes some sports teams
