About You
The insight day was very enjoyable as we spent the day learning about all different areas of the work they do and were presented to be different people in different days which kept the day interesting.
All the 西瓜视频s on the insight day were made to feel very welcome throughout the day and really encouraged to feel like Towers Watson were interested in us and hiring us in the future. There was a big emphasise on how friendly the firm is and how much everyone who works there gets along.
There was a session at the end for employability skills which was very useful. At each information session we were given specific information on what kind of person would be suited to the role
I'm not sure that the insight day will particularly help me in my degree but it will definitely help with future career decisions. It will also influence the modules I choice to do because a lot of the statistics module will be directly applicable to the role.
The Company
The day was very well planned with each session having a set layout with presentations and more interactive parts. However, the sessions in the morning did run over the scheduled times which meant we had a shorter lunch break and the sessions in the afternoon were slightly rushed to ensure we finished at the time stated so we were all able to make our transport home on time.
The atmosphere was great and the staff there were extremely friendly and helpful. The interactions within the 西瓜视频s was good but there was a certain level of shyness which is to be expected. However, we weren't made to feel like we were directly competing with other 西瓜视频s which made the experience much more enjoyable.
As this was only a one day event there was no training but they did try to develop our business thinking skills with business games.
There was a lot of information about the different roles but it is still hard to imagine what a working day would actually entail. I believe this is something you get more from an internship.
Very much so. There was a great emphasis on what its like to work there and what the atmosphere in the office is like. All the staff members were very friendly with each other which was very encouraging to see compared to some other companies.
There was quite of information about career progression which was helpful.
Everything Else
We were reimbursed expenses of up to 拢50 which is good but isn't really sufficient to get from Sheffield to London as I also had to stay over the night before. You could contact Towers Watson if your expenses were over this limit but I was offered the insight day late and did not have to time to do this. I appreciate it is not Towers Watson's fault that I live so far away but they were not offering insight days at their other offices.
Definitely. At lunch there were lots of staff members and we were encouraged to network with them and ask them any questions we had about the firm or the role.
As it was only a day there was just the one event at lunch but it was good.
This wasn't part of the information presented to everyone but when networking we heard about holidays they had been on together and social events they hold.
This was an excellent opportunity to look more deeply into the firm and I would definitely recommend it.
