Overview
I work within the EO team to analyse, design and test various systems. This often involves collaborating with different members of the department to share ideas. My computational and practical abilities are regularly tested with dynamic work and I continuously learn new physics.
Skills
My programming and modelling skills have improved over the course of this internship. I find the work stretches my problem solving abilities, providing a challenging yet rewarding experience. I feel I have also bolstered by interpersonal and communicative skills through frequently meeting with the team.
Responsibilities
Yes, I found the team would regularly rely on my work, in both practical and computational senses, to proceed with projects. My progress was also regularly monitored to ensure goals were reached and deadlines were met.
Support & Guidance
I would often seek out help on specific tasks during the internship and I found that the team were very responsive and understanding. Many would offer guidance on how I could improve my approach to tasks and would spare time to explain difficult concepts to me.
Culture
From my first day, I noticed how the company fostered a supportive and inclusive environment. Team work was encouraged and this helped create new ideas and approaches to working. Everyone was more than happy to offer help on specific issues.
Your Impressions
This was my first internship experience and was a great opportunity to employ my physics knowledge in a purposeful yet professional environment. Although daunting at first, I enjoyed the responsibilities given to me, and found working alongside likeminded individuals enlightening. The work was rewarding and often prompted me to think outside the box to solve problems.
