Overview
We did a lot of activites related to assisting with future applications for WTW apprenticeships and finding out if an apprenticeship was right for you. These included ice breakers, CV and LinkedIn profile building workshops, networking with current apprentices, finding about about culture at WTW, and many more.
Skills
I have developed existing skills, such as confidence from ice breakers. Additionally, I have developed public speaking skills from presenting a LinkedIn post that was hand written to the team of 西瓜视频s on the insight event. Furthermore, I have learnt how to network properly, by adding contacts on LinkedIn and learning more about specific roles at WTW.
Business Insight
Most of it was spoken to us by a slideshow presented to us by the early careers team. The main role was in insurance broking. There were other roles too but I mainly found those out by speaking to current apprentices and asking further questions. Overall, I was given a good insight into all the roles available and the level of apprenticeship they were.
Culture
The culture seemed friendly and quite relaxed. Many people seemed to be comfortable and enjoyed their role a lot. There are green spaces available and there is a very spacious cafeteria. There is an emphasis on work life balance at WTW, and I found that people rarely felt stressed by their job.
Your Impressions
The insight event proved fun and interactive. Many people there were friendly and approachable. A minor criticism is that some aspects of the event such as staying in a room and listening to presentations felt a little slow in pace. It would've also been nice if there were more exposure to senior people in the WTW (or more people outside of Insurance) although I understand that the insight event was mainly about apprenticeships. Overall, it was quite an engaging two days and the networking opportunities I got were very informative.
Yes
Learn the structure of the application process. Understand what a psychometric test is. Research the company WTW. Do a mock interview. Look for questions commonly asked when applying for a corporate office job. Use the STAR method (Situation, task, action, result), when answering behavioural interview questions. Finally, put most of your energy into demonstrating your passion for WTW and why exactly you want to work there.
