Overview
I assist the retirement team doing calcs and performing other tasks in Excel and using in-house specialist software.
Skills
I have learnt lots of new technical pensions knowledge and gained a deeper understanding of the industry. Also developed my skills of working as a team, and gained knowledge of Excel and how to use the in-house software.
Responsibilities
I was given client work to complete from the first week of my internship, and these opportunities only grew throughout the 8 weeks. However, there were always people to ask for support and never too much pressure placed on me, as everything goes through a rigorous checking process.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support, I had a dedicated buddy who I could ask questions to, in addition to my intern manager. Additionally, I could ask questions to anyone in the retirement team and they were always willing to answer.
Culture
Fantastic culture where everyone is ready to help each other. I was given lots of opportunities to get to know people, including senior colleagues, and there were fantastic socials, including the intern social which we planned.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed all of the wide range of work I got involved with, and had a fantastic time where I learnt lots.
Yes
Ask as many questions as possible, and seek out every opportunity to try new work or shadow colleagues.
