Overview
Each day had a balance between interactive activities and learning new concepts. Had the opportunity to listen to current WTW employees, across different departments, talk about their experience within the company and their career background. Across the two days, we had a learning module where at the end we got a chance to apply the new concepts learned into an everyday scenario. This was during a breakout room session, where we spoke to multiple participants from the programme.
Skills
Improved my analytical skills, through the RCA session. To identify the root cause, I learnt you had to constantly think of 'why' reasons and 'therefore' to show what it would lead up to. I also improved my teamwork skills as across the two days we had group activities, such as the jeopardy game, where working in a team was essential to ensure a high result. In addition, I developed networking and collaboration skills, which will definitely be crucial for the future.
Business Insight
On the second day, the WTW early careers team organised a mini careers fair, which included 7 different departments across the business. Everyone was split into smaller groups of 8 people, which made it easier for us to speak with the departments and ask relevant questions. This was very helpful in understanding the business roles and everyday tasks. Earlier in the programme we also had the chance to listen and speak to some recent WTW graduates and summer interns, which was also very insightful.
Culture
Since the first day, the early careers team made us feel very supported and welcome. Before the programme we had a short session preparing us for the two days by giving us advice and what to expect. Throughout the insight event everyone who we spoke to across the business was very passionate about what they do, which created a positive atmosphere and highlighted the importance of WTW's company values. Overall creating a very good first impression.
