Overview
A 2-day online event giving insight of the areas of WTW, along useful sessions designed to encourage young professionals to build a personal brand and build interview skills. These sessions involved hands-on practice which especially helped to solidify the concepts being shared. There were also social activities and a careers fair at the end, which was so valuable to understand what each line of business does at WTW; we got to have Q&A's from current employees in all lines!
Skills
Plenty, from interview skills to personal branding and problem-solving skills. I developed skills of talking to professionals and asking insightful questions, which we were encouraged to do throughout
Business Insight
Very useful; while I had a good idea of what field I was going to apply for, the structure of the business as a whole was a big grey area before the Level Up programme. The careers fair in particular made it extremely clear what each line did and how they fit into the bigger picture of WTW. This was exemplified by slides and diagrams (eg. showing how the Corporate Risk and Broking line housed multiple other lines such as ICT).
Culture
The culture was definitely one of wanting us to learn above all, while having fun. We were encouraged to ask questions from minute 1, being told multiple times that there is no such thing as a silly question! Any questions we had were answered with real respect and effort which gave me confidence to be vocal and active across the 2 days.
Your Impressions
I felt very accepted and included within WTW's team. We were treated as colleagues and prospects - not just note-takers etc. This was shown by the promise of follow-up sessions. The sessions for upskilling involved honesty and effort from the WTW staff. Overall the programme was very well structured and we largely stuck to schedule throughout. The social activities especially were fun! I enjoyed the insight largely.
Yes
Look out for the Level Up programme; acceptance on that helps a ton with your application for the summer internship! Also, it helps people that aren't sure of what field they want to apply to, because of the career fair. In addition, be authentic and yourself :)
