Networking with my team and people around the company. Analysis of data from Bloomberg and the submissions we do at month end. Using excel to enable easier trade volume analysis with pivot tables and charts for summary. Shadowing members of the team to understand the work they do.
Skills
Communication skills by talking to team members and reaching out to others in the company for coffee chats and understanding about their experiences, new excel skills learnt such as power query and formulas/shortcuts, technical knowledge about different financial rates products
Responsibilities
My line manager was extremely helpful and always providing me with work or teaching me about the different products he looks at and values. I was given various tasks throughout the internship, responsible for analysing, compiling and comparing data.
Support & Guidance
I received a lot of support from my entire team especially my line manager who always put aside time to teach me about his role and further my learning when I had a lot of questions. My team put aside time to allow me to shadow their work and are always helpful when I had questions. The head of the intern program always provided guidance and especially arranging talks to learn about different divisions of finance.
Culture
The culture is really good - everyone I have talked to here is friendly and willing to put time aside to help you whether that was with my presentation or just wanting to learn about their role and experiences. Networking and meeting people here has been really enjoyable for me.
Your Impressions
I have really enjoyed the internship - my team has been amazing in guiding me and helping me throughout the internship and it was lovely to get to know everyone. I enjoyed the work I did here and learnt a lot of new skills (particularly excel skills such as power query and tools for data analysis).
