Overview
- We maintain a comprehensive set of risk thresholds/limits across our counterparty-level credit risk exposures. These portfolio limits are set based on our risk appetite and periodically reviewed and adjusted. - Counterparty measures capture the current and potential future exposure to an individual counterparty, considering collateral and legally enforceable netting agreements. - Attend and assess due diligence information conducted on counterparties. - etc.
Skills
Hard skills - technical understanding of the credit risk function: policies, risk management, investment strategies, derivatives, portfolio, documents, models, ratings and judgement of more complex case to case scenarios. Soft skills - good habits, time management, confidence, responsibility, accountability, independence, reaching out for help, collaboration, innovation and attention to detail.
Responsibilities
Given counterparties to review when deliberating what reviews are ongoing/upcoming. Participating in due diligence calls with counterparties and capturing relevant detail - important for subsequent write-up. Trading approvals with FO can appear in the day to day but there are other opportunities to be client facing aswell.
Support & Guidance
Echoing previous reviews, colleagues across your team and the bank are incredibly helpful and willing to investment in your growth through catch-ups/meetings/feedback. Be sure to be proactive, keeping in mind that everybody has their own portfolios and work so be respectful of both their time and yours. This is particularly true if your team is spread across different locations so be patient. Good buddy system and you can apply to be mentored.
Culture
Culture is great. Your voice and ideas are heard out. People are more than reasonable and thoughtful. Good office environment located in the centre of pretty much everything. A selection of networks you can join and group-wide events to attend.
Your Impressions
It's been a rewarding journey. You're able to constantly develop, work independently, build trust and take responsibility for your work. It's a pleasant feeling to be able to take pride in the work you do with incredible people at an excellent firm. Excellent way to pave the way for a career at UBS/Risk.
Yes
The first section of this review was taken from the UBS annual report 2024. Research UBS, reach out to previous interns/current employees and understand how UBS differentiates itself with its commitments, culture and pillars, etc. It's okay to not know which team you want to work in but it adds weight if you show that you've researched the various areas in Tech, AM, Risk, etc. Be genuine and show your hunger for learning.
