Overview
Transaction diligence sits within the Strategy and Transactions division at EY-Parthenon. It involves conducting financial due diligence on companies as part of M&A deals. The role involves direct interactions with the client as well as the management teams of the companies that the due diligence is being conducted on. There is a lot of excel based tasks and technical accounting knowledge is required.
Skills
I have significantly improved my excel skills and understanding of the works of a deal process.
Responsibilities
I was given some responsibility. As the internship is only 4 weeks, it is quite a short period of time to properly familiarise yourself with the working of the team and the technical aspects of the role. Due to this, interns are generally given quite simple tasks, however, as you prove your performance you can potentially be given more meaningful work.
Support & Guidance
During the internship you are matched with a buddy who is usually an analyst in your team who helps you with everything when it comes to onboarding, as well as introduces you to other people at the company. You are also assigned a counsellor who is someone more senior and they assist you with performance tracking and career progression. Overall, good support provided.
Culture
Very relaxed and open company culture. The teams often go for lunch/drinks and organise social events.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed being part of a company that has a lot of young people and other interns. I also enjoyed learning about the work of my team and about M&A deal dynamics. It was really interesting sitting in on the client call,s as well as getting involved in the technical aspects of Excel work.
Yes
Do research about the company and have a clear vision on why you are interested in the role.
