Overview
Overall, the insight largely consisted of completing trainee-level legal tasks and supporting fee-earners with their work. Typically, this involved research, proofreading and general legal drafting.
Skills
I have learned many new skills, specifically regarding legal formatting and client communications. The insight has also helped me develop my proofreading and analytics.
Business Insight
It was very encouraging knowing the large variety of roles available within the business. It was clear that DLA truly supports its staff and encourages personal development as well as career progress.
Culture
Very supportive and friendly. The environment in which I was working was one of collaboration rather than competition, and every higher-up was willing to take the time to support my understanding of the work I was doing.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed the insight and gained valuable knowledge regarding the firm and its culture.
Yes
Try to embed elements of your personality within your application. Everyone at the firm is keen to learn about you as a person, so try to come across as more than someone who is purely interested in law.
