Overview
We worked in two different practice groups across the three weeks. I worked in Litigation and Regulation, along with Restructuring. The tasks were a mix of live work and work that had been prepared for interns. The variety of work was good. Some of the tasks I got involved in were: preparing a Statement of Costs, verifying a Notice of Appointment and drafting a client alert.
Skills
I have definitely learnt new skills and developed existing ones. I think my professional communication skilled have been elevated, both in real conversions and in email format. I also think my research skills have been developed and my legal knowledge has improved. Overall, I think I have a much better understanding of how the law is practically applied.
Business Insight
It was very useful! I am always wanted to be a lawyer but have not yet had any experience in a law firm. Starting my law conversion in September my time as a Summer Intern has re-enforced that this is the right career path for me.
Culture
It was amazing. Everyone has been so welcoming and many have taken significant time out of their busy day to talk to me, which I really appreciated.
Your Impressions
I have loved the experience. The work has definitely been a highlight, but more than that the people that I have met.
Yes
Be yourself and be friendly. Working hard is a minimum but it is equally as important to get to know the people in your team.
