Overview
Solihull BIW PVT Undergrad - take on quality projects either from customer warranty issues or in-house finds. Work closely with manufacturing and the base engineering teams to resolve issues quickly.
Skills
I have greatly improved my communications skills, specifically, knowing how to communicate well with a large variety of people at different times. This is because I have worked with people who are managers and senior managers, people who are associates on the assembly lines, people from lots of different countries and towns, and people who are different ages.
Responsibilities
I had responsibility to complete projects in a timely manor to make sure the company would not lose a lot of money. I had responsibility to contact suppliers and represent JLR in external meetings, so making sure I acted as professional as possible.
Support & Guidance
My line manager has supported me throughout the year. He has enabled me to be more independent and know who else to contact when support is needed.
Culture
The company culture is great, all the employees respect each other and are mostly helpful. Management doesn't create unnecessary pressure on employees. The company looks after the employees with pay rises, good holiday entitlement, sick leave when needed and benefits.
Your Impressions
I very much enjoyed my placement as it enabled to tackle difficult problems and think creatively. The team I have been in are great fun and the team building days have been some of the best days on my placement.
Yes
Focus on soft skills and look into the company values. These help a lot with interviewing and your time at JLR.
