  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • On a day-to-day basis, I work on assembling and testing hardware components, analysing system performance data, and assisting with fault-finding and troubleshooting. I also collaborate closely with engineers from various disciplines, contribute to design reviews, and help ensure that prototypes meet performance, safety, and quality standards. My responsibilities often include hands-on lab work, documenting technical findings, and participating in team meetings to drive continuous improvement in system functionality.

  • Yes, I鈥檝e gained valuable hands-on experience with hardware testing, data analysis, and technical documentation. I鈥檝e developed my problem-solving skills by troubleshooting mechanical faulrs. Working in a cross-functional team has enhanced my communication and collaboration skills. I鈥檝e also built confidence using industry-standard tools and software, and strengthened my ability to manage time effectively while working on multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility throughout my placement. I was trusted to carry out independent testing, analyse results, and present findings to the wider engineering team. I also contributed to key decisions in ongoing projects and was involved in improving existing processes. This level of trust and involvement helped me grow professionally and gain confidence in applying my technical knowledge in real-world scenarios.

There was a strong emphasis on teamwork, continuous improvement, and mutual respect, which made the atmosphere both motivating and enjoyable. Overall, it was a positive and inclusive workplace where I felt valued and empowered.

  • thoroughly enjoyed my placement鈥攊t was a rewarding experience. I had the opportunity to apply my engineering knowledge to real-world projects, learn from experienced professionals, and develop both technical and soft skills. The variety in my day-to-day tasks kept the work engaging, and the supportive team environment made it easy to grow and take on new challenges. Overall, it confirmed my passion for engineering and gave me greater clarity on my future career path.

Highlight any hands-on experience, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities. Most importantly, be curious and open to learning鈥擩LR values individuals who take initiative and aren鈥檛 afraid to ask questions or share ideas.
