Overview
My day typically starts at 9am when we have a morning briefing of the work we will all work on that day. From then on we work individually and join meetings/calls if we have any questions or want to present our work.
Skills
My technical skills have been expanded to front and back end programming. As well as UI/UX design, database work and testing. My soft skills venture more onto the side of presentations, team work and communication.
Responsibilities
I was given lots of responsibility. Managers would often assign work and give us free reign on how we want to complete it. This is supported by the constant communication we have with the team if we need guidance or a decision to be made. A lovely balance.
Support & Guidance
We were given a mentor at the start, I had weekly meeting with him. Along with that, we have early careers support who meet with us periodically to check up on us. It is a very supportive environment.
Culture
The atmosphere was very supportive throughout. It is a very inspiring place to work at as there is constant innovation happening. Also JLR organise an abundance of events within the workplace which broadens everyone's horizons.
Your Impressions
I loved my placement. I would recommend JLR to everyone that I meet with. I felt comfortable throughout and would not change anything about it.
Yes
Spent time personalising your CV and Cover letter to tailor to JLR's wants. Make sure your values align with the ones at JLR. Also, be confident in the interview process, even if you are nervous.
