Overview
Part of BEM (Battery Electrical Module) team and worked on site as a process engineer. Role essentially focused on solving issues concerning installation of the BEM Line as well as operator process issues that crop up on the line often involving contacting outside suppliers to talk and find solutions.
Skills
Skills: Communication: Necessary when dealing with suppliers and co-workers to convey issue in clear concise manner which is easily digestible so we could all proceed accordingly Presentational: When finding a specific solution I would be required to create a presentation and go through it so I can highlight all the benefits and actions needing to take place Organisational: Necessary when creating spreadsheet that will be used and viewed by others Teamwork
Responsibilities
I was given responsibility through managing my own projects and determining whether certain solutions would be feasible or not and given the responsibility of sharing that information with other managers. For example, when a critical issue was brought up in the line where firm electrical connections must be detected at various points consistently to prevent short circuits from occurring. My project involved working with the camera suppliers and JLR personnel to come up with a suitable solutions where no complications can occur.
Support & Guidance
Managers and co-workers were very helpful to me and assisted me whenever I needed help with what steps to follow when faced with an obstacle or what to do when task was complete and was unsure how to commence
Culture
Friendly and welcoming environment within team to help each other whenever needed even when line was very busy. Teams outside BEM Line were helpful also but slightly less reliable in recieving feedback from them
Your Impressions
Very much enjoyed placement. Work was enjoyable for the most part. Only nit-pick is when I was faced with tasks involving signoffs due trouble aligning with everyone's schedule
Yes
Try to shadow other teams when given the opportunity and ask for more work constantly. Also, ensure to network with others often to be as informed you can be.
