Overview
During my first 6 months I was a data analyst working on accessories. I was responsible for transfer of all data for Jaguar to a new system as well as redesigning the old website. My second 6 months I worked organising an awards event as well as single handily creating a global development week for commercial. As an undergraduate this placment gave me so much responsibility which was great.
Skills
So many! I was surprised at the extent of my exposure to many parts of the business. I was taught many new skills with frequent development off sites. I had access to lots of training resources, developed networking skills, excel / powerpoint skills as well as many more hard and soft skills
Responsibilities
Lots, I was pleasantly surprised. I almost met and worked with many higher ups in the company and felt trusted with big tasks as well as supported. I had many big tasks I was surprised an undergraduate had been given, but JLR really wants to invest in you and give you that exposure and responsability in which you can really develop.
Support & Guidance
Lots. the culture I entered was very supportive. I had frequent 1 to 1s with my manager, assigned a buddy / mentor , and always felt people around me could lend a helping hadn or offer advice if needed.
Culture
In my experience, the culture was great. i felt very supported, I was listened to and appreciated despite being and Undergraduate. I was tasked with big responsibilities that made me feel I was actually part of the team rather than just an intern.
Your Impressions
Having spoken to friends who are also on placement, JLR is clear as the best placement. The work and social opportunities are second to none and I have a large friend group now from work. I went on a JLR ski trip, was supported when starting a 5 a side league, and went to many social events i.e winter / summer ball. Can not recommend enough.
Yes
Be yourself! Everyone has a degree, it's important to speak about it and obviously research the company, but what they're looking for is what makes you you, what makes you different. All my friends on the scheme had something unique e.g a friend worked did formula 西瓜视频 at uni, I did a presentation on sustainability where I spoke about conservation work I'd done. Figure out what makes you unique!
