    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • The development includes the integration of both new and known technologies into new vehicles, often involving CAD packaging work, adapting designs and agreeing performance targets. Having developed a specification, the team project manages suppliers to develop the commodities for production. Typical work includes CAD packaging, sizing calculations, analysing CAE & physical test data, design reviews, supplier management, failure mode/root cause analysis as well as both component and vehicle level test management.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • Whilst I could've been given more responsibilities and work to do, I was able to lead a couple of my own projects and assist with other projects run by my team. Overall I was generally kept busy with work to get on with. This experience varies by the structure and team each person is allocated to - but generally is viewed very positively.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • Support and guidance opportunities were excellent. Regular check-ins with my line manager, regular team meeting, and plenty of opportunities to network with the company and other undergraduates. The early careers team is also readily available to support if necessary. This experience varies between teams but generally is viewed very positively.

At the Gaydon office, there are often events in the main street, whether this be cultural awareness or supplier insight events.
