Overview
I work in two different teams, in geometric design integration I design components and systems on CAD software and work with people from all across the business to meet demands and create new exciting things for upcoming projects. In the powertrain vehicle issues team I am responsible for issue resolution within the fleet if something happens with a prototype vehicle I am responsible for diagnosing that issue within the systems by plugging into the vehicle mainframe and collecting data. then I either fix the issue or hand it over to the necessary teams for fixing
Skills
I have developed so many of my existing engineering skills such as CAD in industry and data analysis but also developed my soft skills to a much higher level. i communicate present and manage my own calendar effectively. alongside this i have also developed so many new technical skills that i never would have developed without this year in industry
Responsibilities
I was the lead on projects and given personal work all throughout my placement. I was hosting important meetings and conversations and have been given the opportunity to work with and lead engineers much higher in the business
Support & Guidance
I received so much support and guidance through my placement from managers, mentors within teams, and senior managers and upwards, but also from JLR's amazing early careers teams. Along with these professional guidance schemes I also had the opportunity to receive guidance and mentoring from other societies within JLR such as the women in stem and engineering network
Culture
Incredible! I felt supported and free to be myself and express myself throughout placement. Jlr have created a welcoming and nuturing environment for all prioritising personal and professional growth for all!

Yes
Be yourself!!! One thing I wish I did more in my interview process was show my interests and love for engineering, I was slightly uptight and nervous but I wish I would have taken a breath and enjoyed the experience as it all turned out positive in the end, Big piece of advice would be BREATHE
