Overview
In my role, I support the development and maintenance of key dashboards ensuring data is accurate, reliable and accessible for stakeholders. Day-to-day, this involves problem-solving, responding to business requests and working closely with different teams to understand their data needs. I also contribute to analysis projects and help improve reporting processes across the function.
Skills
I’ve developed both technical and professional skills. I’ve improved in areas like data analysis, dashboard development, and translating complex insights for stakeholders. I’ve also built confidence in communication, problem-solving and managing expectations under pressure. Additionally, I’ve become more adaptable and independent, learning how to navigate ambiguity and prioritise tasks effectively in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was given a good level of responsibility from early on. I took ownership of key dashboards, resolved recurring data issues and supported important projects like Prime Day analysis. I was trusted to manage tasks independently, contribute to team decisions, and communicate with stakeholders — all of which helped me grow in confidence and accountability.
Support & Guidance
I received consistent support and guidance throughout my placement. My line manager was approachable and provided regular feedback, while the wider team were always willing to help when I had questions. I also had opportunities to learn from more experienced colleagues through day-to-day collaboration. The supportive environment made a real difference.
Culture
The company culture was welcoming, inclusive and supportive. I felt encouraged to ask questions, share ideas and take ownership of my work. There was a strong emphasis on collaboration and continuous learning, which created a positive and motivating atmosphere. People were approachable at all levels and there was a genuine sense of purpose in the work being done.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. The work was varied, meaningful and allowed me to develop both technical and professional skills. I felt part of the team and appreciated the trust placed in me to take on real responsibility. The supportive culture, combined with opportunities to grow and contribute made the experience both rewarding and enjoyable.
Yes
My advice would be to show genuine curiosity about the business, be clear about why you want to join and what your purpose is. Highlight both your technical and interpersonal strengths, as Unilever values well-rounded individuals. Be yourself throughout the process, and don’t be afraid to ask questions.
