Overview
Working in Fleet & Business within Sales. The role鈥檚 objective is to reach business targets by driving order take from Corporate & Fleet clients through pricing and events. The role includes utilising excel and having multiple working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure that tasks can be completed with the correct information. The role requires strong analytical skills and confidence in communication
Skills
I have seen my confidence in communication improve significantly throughout the 12 months, this has been aided from presenting to senior team members and attending meetings with external stakeholders. My understanding of how I best manage my time and calendar has been bolstered with having to be adaptable to sudden change and an ever-changing business landscape. I have developed my critical thinking skills throughout the role
Responsibilities
From the very beginning of my role I have been given as much responsibility as any permanent team member could expect from a role. I have been challenged to take on projects and always encouraged to be a part of the team. At no point have I been tasked with administrative tasks to 鈥渒eep me busy鈥. Instead I have been given the chance to make and influence decisions that have an impact on the firm
Support & Guidance
I have found myself to be very fortunate in that my line manager has been incredibly willing to provide me with help, guidance and advice at all points in my placement. I have at no points felt as if I could not ask a question or raise my hand. The culture at JLR aims to provide confidence that there is no reason not to ask for help whether that be a task or career
Culture
It is clear that in the past JLR likely struggled with its workplace culture. And sure there may be remnants and characters. But it is also clear that they have invested heavily in making JLR somewhere that the employers truly enjoy working at and would always recommend to others. We are listened to and asked regularly for feedback as to improvement. Senior leadership are positive and seem intent on recognition and appreciation
Your Impressions
My 12 months at JLR have far exceeded my expectations of what a placement could do for me. I have unlocked a level of motivation I did not expect and I wake up each morning looking forward to my work day. I have been part of a fantastic team and been given more opportunities than I can count to broaden my understanding of automotive. I have been encouraged to progress and I will miss it
Yes
The best advice I can give to anyone applying for JLR or any other firm. Is be passionate in the reasons you are applying. Do not apply for the sake of getting on an internship. Apply because you are passionate about your learning, the industry, the firm or your own personal development. If you are passionate at JLR, you will be recognised and you will be given opportunities to reflect that
