Overview
CAD engineer in vehicle structures. In charge of creating and modifying CAD geometry for parts that are needed on programmes. Helped lead studies on design and manufacture of prototypes.
Skills
Learnt lots of new skills in CAD and CAM, improved Microsoft office skills. Sociable team and early careers experience helping to develop interpersonal skills as well as your network
Responsibilities
Wasn鈥檛 given much at the very beginning due to the steep learning curve. Began to pick up responsibility as time went on and now help to lead projects without the input of other more experienced hires.
Support & Guidance
Lots of support from early careers teams and representatives. A little less from my team manager as it is a large team and can be difficult to find time.
Culture
Very comfortable and easy going culture. Very inclusive of everyone. Lots of societies and activities to attend outside of work to help develop relationships. Overall a very nice and fun place to work
Your Impressions
I鈥檝e overall thoroughly enjoyed my placement and would recommend it to anyone. If I were to do it again I would certainly choose JLR.
Yes
Be yourself, learn the creators code and company culture to help yourself in interviews. Tailor your experiences as to how you can help the company achieve its goals and culture. Most importantly, be a good person, this massively outweighs any academic achievement
