    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • Monitoring orders placed by my customers and using workflow automation tools to communicate changes to inefficient orders to our third party partners. Supporting customers on queries and approving or rejecting claims. Reviewing Trade Terms to ensure customers act accordingly and striving for a good dispatch rate across the year of service.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • I have learnt new skills around the software platforms that I use including PEGA, SAP, and High Radius. I have also massively developed my skills on Microsoft Apps including Excel, which has reduced the time taken to extract data and gather information. In terms of soft skills, improving my ways of customer interaction has occurred also.

    Responsibilities

  • 3. Were you given much responsibility during your placement / internship?
  • I was given the standard amount of responsibility that an IP would get at the start of my role as I was getting used to the processes of the business. Then, halfway through I was given a lot of responsibility regarding the customers I looked after in comparison to what an IP would get, which was a really good thing as I learnt a lot.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?
  • I received a lot of support from my manager and colleagues who I work with in my team. Everyone at the company is very experienced and therefore knowledgeable which helped massively. In my job, there are certain processes/softwares you use everyday so people have become really well equipped on these which results in really good training.

    Culture

  • 5. What was the company culture and general atmosphere like?
  • The company culture was really good. It is a multi-national and successful company so the standards are high which makes the culture very professional, but people are still very approachable and welcoming. The general atmosphere was vibrant but calm and composed, people friendly with each other and striving for success.

    Your Impressions

  • 6. To what extent did you enjoy your placement / internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I feel I went on a good trajectory from learning all the new skills and getting used to my day to day activities, before being given more responsibility and issues to fix as well as initiatives to work on. At times, I thought it could be a bit repetitive with little projects, but overall I am delighted with my experience.

  • 7. Would you recommend Unilever to a friend?
  • Yes

  • 8. What advice would you give to others applying to Unilever
  • Make sure you do some background research of the company to take into your interviews and assessment centres. Understand what actions you will be taking in your specific sector before you commit to applying to anything. Don't be concerned about not knowing much about a role because everything you learn is completely different to education.
