Overview
A summary of my role is incident management and tracking within our factories, benchmarking our incidents against peer companies and competitors. Using this tracking to present to wider Quality teams: areas of success, improvements and common patterns. My day to day tasks include updating spreadsheets with external and internal data and applying these to dashboards and metrics which my team manages. Daily calls with my team members to discuss progress and projects and what are our next areas of focus are for upcoming months.
Skills
I have learnt and improved on various skills such as advanced Excel spreadsheet management, creation of digitalised and intuitive graphs to showcase data from within our factories. Confidence in communication, presenting, advocating my ideas and building relationships with professionals, both virtually and in person. Organisation skills and deadline prioritisation, preparing me for my final year of university and meeting higher demands. Confidence in independent business travel to meet stakeholders and members of different teams.
Responsibilities
I was given independent projects to manage myself, whilst receiving lots of support and guidance at the same time. Many relationships I have built were due to me personally reaching out to set up introductory calls and being curious to learn, which built my confidence in approaching new people.
Support & Guidance
Throughout my placement I was assigned a line manager who also acted as a mentor. This relationship was maintained both in person and virtually, and I was lucky to have a very attentive, caring and responsive manager. I worked in a team of people with expertise in different areas, which meant having the option to ask different people for help based on the tasks I was completing and learning from them.
Culture
The culture within my personal team was very warm, caring and friendly whilst also very professional. My team was global, meaning I was exposed to different cultures and ways of working. The culture within the company as a whole was affected due to organisational changes and I did feel that at times there was divides between different functions.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement due to the amount of personal development I got to make to help me begin my career. I feel I have been exposed to many different roles, relationships and issues that can occur working in a corporate environment which I did not have knowledge of previously, having only been a 西瓜视频. I got many opportunities to travel to different sites and meet other placement 西瓜视频s within my function.
Yes
Be prepared to possibly work in a very global environment. There is a big difference between working in a UK based team and having all your team members around you, compared to mostly communicating with your team over calls. Be curious and connect with people in different functions and different Business Groups, as there is so much to learn and so many different projects you could take part in.
