Overview
The day-to-day role of a project manager involves overseeing project timelines, ensuring effective stakeholder communication, and managing tasks to meet deadlines. Responsibilities include planning and scheduling, risk management, quality control, budget tracking, and status reporting. The project manager must also foster team collaboration and provide regular updates to keep everyone informed and aligned with project goals.
Skills
There are many opportunities explicitly for upskilling even outside the natural learnings that arise from working within the team. You have the opportunity to pick up a lot of soft-skills you ordinarily would not in a typical university environment as well as build on the technical skills you may already have.
Responsibilities
Yes, I would say so - a lot more than you would expect given it is a placement opportunity.
Support & Guidance
I would say that the support and guidance was good, although the work could be challenging at times, you definitely feel as if there is somewhere to turn to to deal with the workload.
Culture
Positive - there was an emphasis on the culture of the office/team.
Your Impressions
Overall, the role offers a blend of strategic planning and hands-on management that was enjoyable and idea, especially, for those who thrive in dynamic and multifaceted environments.
Yes
Make the most of the opportunity in terms of choosing to work on projects in different teams, requiring different capabilities and that stretch your understanding.
