    Overview

  • 1. Please give an overview of your role and what this involves on a day-to-day basis.
  • HR works on different key projects throughout the year so not every day will be the same. My day-to-day would typically start with checking and responding to emails. I would have weekly catch-up with my team on key priorities for the week, and having meetings with senior leaders on strategy and workforce organisation. Part of my responsibilities involve supporting with recruitment, and ensuring all data regarding workforce are accurate to gain performance insights.

    Skills

  • 2. Have you learnt any new skills, or developed your existing skills?
  • Working in this role has greatly improved my technical skills and proficiency in Microsoft applications, such as Excel and Power BI. Collaborating and working closely with senior leaders has enhanced my communication and conflict resolution skills. During my placement, I have had the chance to work on multiple HR projects, and each project has helped me gain a deeper understanding of HR policies and recruitment processes.

    Support & Guidance

  • 4. How much support and guidance did you receive during your placement / internship?

I was quickly involved in a very important project with tight deadline, which was quite stressful. While it was unfortunate that my manager was not around due to external circumstance, I was able to receive support from my work team and guidance for anything I'm new to and unsure about.
