Overview
The Insight was a 2-day programme, with the first day online and the second in the Birmingham office. On the first day, I learnt a lot about my service areas (S&T) and also the relevant ‘network’ for my background - I joined on the ‘women in business programme’ so learnt about the women’s network. I got the opportunity to hear from recent grads and experienced professionals about their jobs. On the second day, I undertook a mock assessment centre group task, as well as hearing from a Partner at the firm and also a panel discussion.
Skills
I developed my teamwork skills through the group task, as well as my adaptability, decision-making, and analytical skills. Also, I gained more confidence talking in front of a crowd and to professionals through asking questions and contributing to group and 1-1 discussions.
Business Insight
The programme was very informative. I had lots of opportunity to hear from people who work at EY, not only experienced professionals, but also recent graduates who could give a great insight into the beginning of your career journey at EY. On the first day there was a deep dive into my particular service line in which I learnt about S&T in detail and about the kinds of roles available and work that is done, and a Q&A where I had the opportunity to find more out from an experienced professional.
Culture
The general atmosphere was really friendly at EY. Everyone I spoke to was so open and welcoming, and the recent graduates echoed this - they all mentioned how EY is a very nice culture to work in.
Your Impressions
I enjoyed this insight to a strong extent. I particularly enjoyed the in-person day where I got the best feel for the company itself and also got the experience of working with my peers.
