    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my internship this summer. From day one I felt immediately welcomed and included as part of the team. Everyone was very friendly and always offering to give me help or answer any questions that I had. I was always very appreciative of the amount of time people were willing to take out of their own work to sit down and explain things to me about the work that was carried out in their role and the office in general.

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt hugely valued by my colleagues. I was often given a piece of work and a deadline to have it done by so that it could then be reviewed and sent out to the client. To be trusted like this to have such important work done on time and then thanked for the work that I did and told how I had helped contribute to a project made me feel that my work and I had been useful and valuable to them.

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I was given as much support and guidance by my supervisor as I wanted. They were always willing to answer any questions that I had or organise extra training if there was a particular area or topic that I wanted to learn more about. They also organised weekly catch-up meetings with me so that we could chat about my progress, answer any questions and make sure I was getting a well-balanced and varied workload.

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • The balance of work was just about right. I always had something to do and keep me busy but there was also still enough time to allow for training and developing my knowledge etc. The day always flew in which was a sign that I was never sitting bored with nothing to do.

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • The work I was given to do was always real client work, it was never just a simulation of a potential piece of client work. This made me feel like I was being given a large amount of responsibility as the work I was doing was actually something that in one way or another would be getting sent out to the client directly or contributing to a larger project that would eventually be sent to the client. However, despite the responsibility it was always comforting to know that your work would be thoroughly checked before being sent to the client.

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • The skills I developed will hugely benefit and assist me in what I do beyond my degree studies. Working in a professional environment meant that I became further aware of how to act professionally, deal with business ethics and client confidentiality etc. Many of these skills will be very useful and transferable into life beyond university.

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • The general atmosphere was great! Everyone was friendly, willing to chat and make you feel welcome. I always felt like I could approach anyone with a question and they would happily answer. People also tried to include me in anything they were doing that they thought would be of interest or benefit to me, which was really nice of them.

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • The overall internship was very well organised. The first day was spent in London where all of the interns got together for a day of organised talks and activities. There had been a huge amount of organisation put into this event and at it we were all provided with a booklet on all the possible information we may require throughout our internships. This organisation continued throughout my internship as the team in my office were always very organised at putting together training sessions for the interns.

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • In terms of personal training and development I feel that they hugely invested in me. Firstly, the initial induction day provided a great insight into the overall work of the company and the different lines of business. This was very useful for my own development to grasp a good understanding of the overall company and not just the line of business I was going to be working in. During my time in the office there was numerous training sessions organised for me which again showed the the company were willing to take time and use their resources to invest in me.

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • The office I worked in was a small office but that didn't mean that there was any lack of social scene. A lot of my colleagues would go out for drinks after work on Friday nights and there was also a good social committee. This committee organises lots of social activities for the office throughout the year and could be anything from wine tasting to Christmas dinner!
