The Role
I got involved in real work in the office as soon as I arrived. I was put on a team that I would join as a graduate so it was great to get to know them both in and outside the office.
I most definitely did feel valued. The work I was doing was helping people with time pressures in the office which really made me feel valued and the team has kept in touch since I left the office.
At times I felt a little lost during my time in the office as everyone was busy, however, each time I was given a piece of work people in my team would make effort to sit down with me and explain to me why it was important and how the piece fit into what we would be sending to clients before I started on the work.
The work came in 'ebbs and flows', at some points in the internship I was very busy (As I wanted to be), however, at other times I felt like a spare part in the office.
Much more than expected, although it was only with the supervision of the people in my team. I really did feel like the work I did was contributing to the final product we were giving to clients.
I'm going to be returning to the office after my degree so it has definitely changed how I will approach my degree and what I will write my dissertation on.
The Company
Very friendly. Everyone in the office was incredibly intelligent and great teachers. They quickly made sure I was part of the team through nights out and getting to know me in the office.
I had to do two presentations whilst I was in the office which were very well set up and made me learn things that I wouldn't have otherwise known. However, at times, the day-to-day management of what I would be doing was a little manic.
For the first 3 weeks, almost every day a member of the office would sit down with me and present to me so I could lean on their area of expertise.
