The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my work placement and have managed to gain a set of transferable skills alongside of being part of an extremely supportive and friendly team. The intern programme is set out with a clear programme to follow outlining skills you will gain and situations you will face. I truly feel that it has been the best placement for me due to the opportunity to gain a set of excellent skills but also its relation to my degree. I have gained valuable business information and have had the opportunity to walk around local businesses and question the employees of their processes and procedures along with gaining an understanding of their recruitment process.
Throughout my intern programme I felt I was part of an extremely supportive team and organisation. In each part of my placement I felt a strong team member and would assist my colleagues were needed. Being a team player helped me to feel valued as I would help with handovers and as a resourcer I would give daily assistance to all my colleagues in order to reach common goals.
My Director, Manager and office colleagues supported me with any tasks and questions I may have had. In both parts of my intern programme, I was assisted and supported by my manager and colleagues who gave me constructive feedback or would show me any new processes and procedures that enabled me to provide an excellent service to both clients and candidates.
I was kept extremely busy throughout my placement; this however included a lot of initiative from me to showcase my enthusiasm and eagerness to learn. In a role like recruitment consultant, I believe there is always something that can be achieved on a daily basis, whether that is providing a high standard of service or being proactive in the work place.
When I reached the six months of my placement, I became a recruitment consultant and the level of responsibility increased significantly. I was responsible for my own set of clients and candidates and was set targets that must be met. I was directly responsible for the placement of candidates into positions within my specialism. My job duties began to included negotiations, meetings, marketing and the representation of my candidates within the market.
All the skills I have gained and developed in this position will be extremely helpful throughout my future career and aid in the finishing of my degree. I have a clear understanding of a how a professional working environment operates, but I now consider myself as a professional individual which has given me the confidence to succeed in any career. I received first class training which involved trips to Birmingham or web seminars which focused on particular topics. I have become confident in completing tasks that I previously had never completed and I am able to deal with business professionals efficiently.
The Company
The atmosphere was often light hearted and would have a positive atmosphere. As an entire office we would regulary go out outside of work and therefore this made an excellent office environment and team fit.
The overall work placement was extremely well organised and followed a clear structure. I was given a placement folder which included of information I must know by certain deadlines.
I travelled down to Birmingham to take part in my Module 1 & 2 training were I received first class training and was a great opportunity to learn all the necessary processes and procedures. I could also take part in regulary web seminars and would recieve regular system updates from our office expert.

I have thoroughly enjoyed my placement with Hays and would love the opportunity to return to Hays to continue on my progression and fully utilise my skill set in a future position. They offer excellent benefits to employees and offer a great office environment with the opportunity to progress and develop.
The Culture
I would be on training with fellow placement 西瓜视频s and therefore got the opportunity to socialise with them on training and office events. There was an excellent social scene with my colleagues and we have regular occassions organised throughout the year this also included works Christmas party and Year End.
Cost of living is regular to many northern University areas (65pw excluding bills) and socialising is relatively cheap.
There is a University within the local area and therefore there are a number of bars and nightclubs within the area.
There is a lesiure centre and the opportunity to join any sports teams within the local area.
