The Role
Highly enjoyed the work content and the degree of responsibility given- such as choosing to do more client facing work if desired. Also really enjoyed the working environment and office culture.
Highly valued!! Colleagues quickly become friends.
Managers are always there if you have any questions at all, and guide through how you should manage your workload by setting targets and having monthly meetings to discuss your sales plans.
There is always something to be done. Whether administrative, calling candidates, chasing job leads, speaking with clients, writing CVs or advertising jobs! There is always something to do so you can never become bored.
Given a very high level of responsibility- including client liaison. I worked one job completely independently from start to finish, from chasing the lead, meeting the client, sourcing candidates and successfully filling the vacancy.
Skills developed include increased time & workload management, effective communication skills- over the phone, email and in person. Increased self confidence, negotiation skills, sales techniques and working in a team.
The Company
The office has a lively and fun atmosphere- but we have core hours where we focus on phoning clients and candidates. We run competitive incentives across the whole office and in our individual teams which create a fun games to engage and motivate us.
Very well set up - we had an initial 12 weeks of training and inductions in different areas- followed by further training in systems, advertising and how to effectively work with candidates and clients. When we first joined we all had the same performance targets, which boosted the competitiveness- and after our 3 month review we could choose to do more client focused work and our managers set our individual targets specific to our workloads.
We are given the same initial training as permanent employees. We attended 2 day training events and had a well structured development course to follow.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I have been told I would be welcome to return to Hays after I graduate (or even if I wish to leave university and stay here!) It's great to know that I am valued and would be invited to come back full time.
The Culture
Most teams go for after work drinks on Thursdays/Fridays- particularly in the summer months. We also have company parties and events which are great fun to attend. Our Christmas party was Circus themed with acrobats, entertainers and live monkeys and snakes.
London is expensive but after work drinks are affordable.
London has a great Nightlife for everyone! There's always something different to do like clubs, food events, outdoor cinemas and rooftop bars. The only downside is the cost.
Hays does have a few sporting activities like Netball and football, there is also discounted gym sessions at local gyms.
