The Role
I have really enjoyed my time at Hays. It has been a really good opportunity to learn new skills and become more exposed to a busy, high-pressured working environment.
I feel that my colleagues have treated me as one of the team and have even come to me with questions when they have got stuck which feels good because I am giving something back to them.
My manager has been brilliant. She has fully supported me throughout all of the training and considering I am the first intern in this office I think the support I have received has been brilliant.
When the office is busy it is great because there is a real buzz about the place. However for some months the flow of work has been a little slower but that gives you time to work on other things such as sourcing good quality candidates.
I have been given my own desk, specialising in the recruitment of temporary office support staff. I have really embraced this role. From an early stage I have been responsible for resourcing candidates for both office support temporary and permanent.
I think the skills I have developed are very transferrable for my degree. I have learnt how to apply my knowledge more to live situations. My organisational skills have improved dramatically and I have learnt how to set targets and motivate myself to keep to those targets, if not exceed them.
The Company
The office atmosphere is really positive and generally a laugh. I have always looked forward to going into work.
There has been a really good structure to the internship and there is always something to train towards. At some points I feel the training has been somewhat delayed which has then slightly hindered my progression.
I have received first class training from my manager and the training team at Hays. I went to training days down in Birmingham and London as well as numerous seminars. I am consistently reviewed in my performance as well as reflections after certain events such as business calls and client meetings.

Although I have enjoyed the placement and I would love a career in recruitment. The offer that has been made to me moving forward I feel does not reflect the training and investment I have already received and the salary is not as competitive as other similar graduate schemes.
The Culture
I am the only intern in the office
Really cheap
Not experienced the night life fully
Not that I am aware of
