    The Role

  • 1. To what extent did you enjoy your work placement or internship?
  • I thoroughly enjoyed my placement. I think my personality is well suited to a sales/ target driven environment such as Hays

    5/5

  • 2. To what extent did you feel valued by your colleagues?
  • I felt fully valued by my colleagues, I was often asked for advice/ helping other colleagues regarding day-to-day activities. I was given responsibilities that other companies may not give to an intern, and was clearly seen as one of the team rather than 'The Intern'

    5/5

  • 3. To what extent were you given support and guidance by management/your supervisor(s)?
  • I worked very close with my line manager, and was given 1-on-1's on a 4 weekly basis, I felt very comfortable asking questions or requesting favours from my supervisors.

    5/5

  • 4. How busy were you on a daily basis?
  • You will not have much spare time as a Recruitment Consultant, there is always something pro-active that you could be doing. the majority of my time is spent hitting tight deadlines. This was managed well if you prepared, acted fast and didn't cut corners in your work. You also have targets to hit in terms of number of calls made/ interviews ran etc.

    5/5

  • 5. How much responsibility were you given during your placement?
  • I ran my own business for Hays, I was as responsible for my sector, as any other consultant was responsible for theirs and was treated none the less. I was given tasks, upon asking, to produce reports to the director for my region, which also came with more responsibility.

    5/5

  • 6. To what extent did/will the skills you developed, and training you received, assist you in your degree studies and beyond?
  • I study Mathematics, and I can honestly say I didn't use any mathematical theory during my placement. What this placement has given me is an extensive timekeeping ability, a strong work ethic and a capability to sale, create business relationships, and maintain professionalism.

    3/5

    The Company

  • 7. What was the general atmosphere in your office?
  • Being a sales/ money-driven environment the office is buzzing when we are doing well and hitting our targets, in contrast, the office can have the opposite reaction when it is doing not so well. Incentives are ran very often to get a chance to win a holiday, on a national level, or win a free lunch/ alcohol on a local level which also adds enjoyment to the week. In general though, the office is a open environment filled with motivated people who can have a good laugh but will get their head down and work when needs be.

    4/5

  • 8. How well organised was the overall work placement or internship set up?
  • I knew from day one what my placement would entail, in terms of training in London/ Birmingham to the development of my personal business. 4 weekly meetings occurred to monitor/ discuss my performance and projects uptaken.

    5/5

  • 9. In terms of personal training and development, to what extent did the company or firm invest in you?
  • Extensive training is given across the 12 months with other interns and also within your office. Also training can be given to you 1-on-1 with a consultant on a particular area of the business if you ask.

    4/5

  • 10. What were the perks on your work placement?
  • Financial Bonus

    1/5

  • 11. How appealing are future employment prospects within the organisation?
  • I would like to pursue a career within Maths. However would happily return to Hays if it didn't work out.

    3/5

    The Culture

  • 12. Was there a good social scene amongst any fellow placement 西瓜视频s/colleagues?
  • A few organised national events are throughout the year, most notable being the Christmas party. As an office we go out for drinks on average once every month or so.

    3/5

  • 13. What was the cost of living and socialising in the area you worked in?
  • Cheap. Newcastle is a great place to socialise and as good to live. I spend around 拢120/150 a week including everything.

    3/5

  • 14. What was the Nightlife like in the area you worked?
  • Fantastic. Doesn't matter what you are into, Newcastle will offer it.
