Overview
Within my assigned audit team, my day-to-day work consisted of finding members of the team who had work on which I could support them by completing a variety of tasks on a variety of entities. It was very insightful to see and understand more of what the auditing process actually entails and how each person within an audit team contributes in different ways across a host of different tasks. Overall, it was a very insightful and useful experience.
Skills
My Excel skills have definitely improved a lot and I think my task organisation skills have too. From a professional development perspective, the SVS has given me a great insight as to what corporate life is like and I feel my interpersonal skills have experienced a positive development as a result of this. Time-management, schedule structuring and overall day-to-day organisation have also been important features of the SVS experience from which I believe my skillset has seen an overall benefit.
Business Insight
It's given me a greater appetite for life as a graduate and has opened my eyes to more of the potential avenues that I could take once I do graduate from university and enter the professional world. The induction training I was given made me focus predominantly on my own service line but was also good at making the links between the different Deloitte service lines abundantly clear and, thus, gave me a better insight of what life is like across the firm.
Culture
The atmosphere was excellent. From the very first day of the induction, lots of emphasis was placed upon the Deloitte culture and how great the people at the firm are. The daily experience of the office was also excellent. The Edinburgh office itself is a really nice and comfortable working environment and the people in the office are all very friendly, approachable and were always willing to lend a hand as and when myself and other SVS 西瓜视频s needed help.
Your Impressions
The insight was very enjoyable. As well as being a very valuable and enriching experience, it was a very enjoyable four weeks on the SVS and the highly positive workplace environment made this all the better. I feel as though I've benefitted significantly from the insight that I've obtained over the course of this SVS. This has made it all the more satisfying and, thus, enjoyable to have gained this insight and to have been a part of the SVS.
Yes
Be as authentic as you possibly can. This is a corporate structure where being an individual counts for something and allows you to bring your own way of working and integrating into the office every single day. Make the most of all of the feedback you're given - from application assessment feedback and interview feedback all the way to day-to-day feedback from colleagues during the SVS. And make sure you're willing to completely immerse yourself in the full experience to ensure you benefit from and are enriched by it as much as possible.
