Overview
My overall role consisted of assisting in the planning and execution of audit assignments, including the evaluation of internal controls and the testing of financial statements, analysing financial data and prepare reports to identify trends, anomalies, and areas for improvement, working closely with clients to understand their business operations and provide insights to enhance their financial reporting processes, communicating with team members to deliver high-quality audit services and meet project deadlines, participating in training sessions and workshops to develop your technical skills and knowledge of auditing standards and practices.
Skills
Continuous growth and learning is extremely applicable whether that's working on soft skills constantly such as communication and time management to working on more technical skills such as financial comprehension, data analysis, Excel and the fundamentals of audit, learning skills are often tested resulting in gaining proficiency and establishing real growth. One skill which I was able to develop the most was the skill of curiosity, this is a fundamental for audit allowing you to not just understand how but also why.
Responsibilities
You are placed with responsibility and straight away involved with clients allowing you to understand processes and constantly learn. This responsibility also allows you to understand the details of audit and apply your learnings in a more practical sense.
Support & Guidance
You have consistent and continuous support from various team members within EY. You are also assigned a buddy and a councillor who provide support and answer all questions you may have or simply advice you may need to progress and grow.
Culture
The company culture and general atmosphere is extremely friendly with everyone being receptive to provide support and help, also individuals encourage curiosity and are happy to answer any questions or queries you may have.
Your Impressions
My placement not only provided me with skills to increase career prospects and help my future career to thrive, but I was also able to connect with many individuals making my time at EY extremely enjoyable and always fun.
Yes
