Overview
My role varies depending on what team I am assisting; I primarily worked with our mobility and rewards teams. For mobility, my day to day included: - joining team meetings to determine what we are focusing on / aiming to achieve - joining client calls / note taking - focused on internationally mobile clients who require tax returns for more than one country - calling HMRC on behalf of clients - regarding their tax compliance For Rewards, my day to day included: - Joining team meetings - IPO research for clients - More incentive plan research to guide clients - Create a comparison table regarding our key competitors and their solutions
Skills
Yes, I have learnt so much this month. Some key skills include: - business writing - for internal emails / communications with clients - Microsoft Excel - Professionalism - particularly regarding client / HMRC calls
Responsibilities
Yes, lots of responsibility. Of course many tasks I completed required feedback and checking from my peers. But I was given full responsibility to communicate with a high up client, and our international teams.
Support & Guidance
There was also support available - one way we are assessed in our internship was reaching out for at lease three feedback forms completed so feedback and guidance was a huge part of the internship.
Culture
Great - everyone was lovely and so supportive. I really hope to be offered the graduate offer and return next September!
Your Impressions
Although it has been challenging (which is expected for a big 4), it has truly been a wonderful experience. I gain so many skills and have matured by a considerable amount.
Yes
Just apply!!!! I study History, and knew nothing about economics / tax, but I applied regardless and received the internship. EY has a great learning structure, so you do not need previous knowledge. As long as your CV / interview answers demonstrate enthusiasm, knowledge about EY, and evidence of your determination and curiosity then you will stand out.
