Overview
Tasks set involving testing controls, shadowing members of the team, reading through resources to strengthen knowledge on particular PRA regulations.
Skills
Developed skills of terminology & comprehension, as well as inputting text using professional language for context. Built on previous/ existing Excel skills.
Responsibilities
Over time, I was given more responsibility, being set tasks to work on independently which would be reviewed by a more senior than me member of the team. There were some tasks where I had the opportunity to complete similar tasks to what a graduate/ assistant manager was doing.
Support & Guidance
Prior to starting the internship, I received abundant support from the Intern team. Additionally, during the period, I would receive regular email correspondence updating me on expectations, required tasks, etc. Everyone in my team was extremely open to answering questions in terms of support, or speaking with me personally about their own career experiences.
Culture
Company culture was friendly, I had a few conversations by just speaking with people. Being in a large office can sometimes be overwhelming as a lot of individuals you don't know but the atmosphere was relaxed but still everyone was hard-working.
Your Impressions
I thoroughly enjoyed it, networking with all levels of management & meeting new people was fun. Even connecting with fellow Interns felt like a community. I enjoyed the independency but would have also preferred a schedule where I could focus on a new aspect each week to make the most out of the duration.
Yes
Do some research in what Streamline interests you the most or what caters to your skillset, but also don't limit yourself to one thing, explore other pathways. Also, make the most of your time, reach out to other people across the company who you would like to network with/ meet. Everyone is friendly and you can learn a lot by hearing from others' careers & experiences.
