Overview
My role as a summer intern was to continually ask for work and try my hardest to complete this. The tasks given would often be meeting minutes which we had with clients, updating excel documents to the current year, or helping with snipping on excel.
Skills
I now know how to use excel much better, including additional addons they used to help make the excel WBs clearer but more detailed. I also now know how to write meeting minutes more efficiently and what format I should follow, as well as what I need to include and the information that isn't as important.
Responsibilities
Not much as they understand that as interns, we aren't expected to know much about what we are doing or how we can reach the end goal. However, they do expect us to complete the tasks we are given to our fullest ability, and if we are confused we should ask.
Support & Guidance
I was given a lot of support, whether it be through my counsellor who is happy to answer any important questions, or my 'buddy' who is our more informal point of contact. Also, my team was very helpful with the tasks they gave me and were more than happy to assist with any questions I was given.
Culture
It was a very warm, inclusive culture, making it really easy and comfortable to ask anyone questions or talk to anyone. There is also many social events EY runs to help build a better environment between all levels.
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed it from the beginning. Some days I would not be given any work which would make the day go very slowly, but that is not common as the team is always trying to find work to give you.
Yes
Be yourself and bring your personality to every question in the application process, and if you make it to the assessment centre don't overthink it. Make sure not to be shy and be open to meeting new people.
