Overview
Summer intern on the life actuarial team. Assisting team members with delegated side of desk tasks, researching, contributing to client projects, attending meetings.
Skills
Gained valuable corporate experience - improved communication skills in this professional context. Further developed problem solving skills - working with new concepts and large amounts of new information, operating independently and learnt the importance of asking for feedback. Also increased competency with systems such as powerpoint and excel.
Responsibilities
Yes - I attended important client meetings whilst shadowing managers/partners and also contributed to client work.
Support & Guidance
Great support system - had both a buddy (1st year grad) and counsellor (senior consultant) as well as a dedicated summer internship team. Lots of points of contact and opportunities and felt very supported throughout.
Culture
Very friendly, encouraging atmosphere. Team were very happy to share advice and guidance and answer any questions. Everyone was very caring and helped others thrive.
