Overview
As a CS I mostly helped with study documents management, study team and sites management, data cleaning and QC. My day is 9-5 and I start with reviewing my to-do and then checking which tasks I need to complete (especially if I need to present them on meetings or to my team) and what needs to be completed, then I have study or team meetings and data cleaning
Skills
I developed resilience and adaptability because industry setting has a lot of changes and you have to accept them with an open mind. I also developed my time-management and team management because I needed to complete many tasks at the same day and deliver to people. I learnt of the processes of how clinical trials are planned from the industry point of view, developed my epidemiology, medical affairs knowledge and methodology skills
Responsibilities
Yes, my managers gave me a range of different tasks from data cleaning and QC to medical writing tasks (I helped with publications). I also helped with documents preparation, study planning and delivery, communication with sites and study team
Support & Guidance
My managers, HR, other Pfizer employee and other undergrads helped me a lot during my placement by giving guidance, answering my questions
Culture
Pfizer has very friendly people who is always eager to connect, talk or help if needed. Team of CSs was especially helpful when I was just adjusting to my role and very open-minded to give me different tasks for development. I also had a chance to shadow other departments and my shadowing manager was helpful as well
Your Impressions
I really enjoyed my placement and liked working with my team. I also liked other Pfizer employee and enjoyed spending fun time with other undergrads
Yes
Don't be afraid to apply and connect to current Pfizer employee to ask for advices because everyone will be happy to help. Be open-minded and ready for random changes, huge range of tasks. Also don't be afraid to befriend many people from the office and have fun!
