The Role
I found the internship great and it was very enjoyable to work in the office, it gave me a real sense of what the day to day life of a retirement actuary would be.
Everyone treated me like I was part of the team from day one which made joining a new company a lot easier.
I had plenty of training sessions and felt like I could ask anyone a question at any time if I was stuck
I was passed down work from members of the team, and so If the office was busy, I would be busy and vice versa, I always had something to be getting on with and would do a good amount of client work every week.
I was given the amount of responsibility you would expect from an internship, I was allowed to get on with work and then my work was checked by a more senior member of the team before it was used.
I feel the skills I have learnt would help me for a career in retirement although I cant see it transferring much to my final year of uni apart from me now being more fluent with excel.
The Company
Atmosphere was good, people got on with their work but still would talk to the people around them, everyone got on well.
The internship was extremely well organised, it seemed like everything had been thought of before I arrived and never felt like I didnt know what I was doing
I was given a lot of training, for both the technical work I would be doing and also general training about different parts of the business.
Financial Bonus
Have discussed a grad job but wont find out until a few weeks after the internship has ended
The Culture
There seemed to be something on every week, would tend to go for drinks after work on Fridays and normally would have a good turn out
Pretty standard
Leeds has a good nightlife
I took part in a number of activities outside of work while I was here
