The Role
It is a very dynamic and social environment. As it is a sales business there is always a buzzing atmosphere. Hitting targets, achieving rewards was is most enjoyable aspect.
Within Hays you receive great support and help when reaching targets/outcomes. When these are achieved you get a sense of accomplishment that is shared round the business/team.
The whole time you are given support. But as you are given full responsibility and consultant duties to fulfill - sometimes you work on your own, support yourself and do things with your own initiative - but support will be there if needed. In regards to guidance, a 12 week training program at the beginning of the placement guides you through all working procedures undertaken during the 12 months.
Numerous responsibilities are required to be undertaken throughout the day. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)/targets are needed to be hit weekly/monthly in order to receive your bonus. As everyday is different because the market changes, you are always kept busy - which makes the time fly by.
Initially the responsibility is split between you and your colleagues/line managers as they help you through new experiences. As you gain confidence and understanding in what you are doing the responsibility increases till you are comfortable.
My skills have considerably increased. Everything learnt here will definitely help me within future roles and when studying. As this role includes responsibilities that are consistently repeated, these skills can be perfected and soon become seconds nature. As you are also exposed to some many different things, new skills are learnt and developed that can be used for the future.
The Company
As it is a sales business there is always a buzzing atmosphere. The atmosphere is face pace and chatty allowing you to get motivated and easily fit in within company culture. The social aspect is also fun with different reward schemes and games, valuing hard work.
There was 12 week training program with scheduled sessions and training lectures that we were required to attended throughout the week. This prepared us for the next 12 months to come which was organized.
The firm invest a lot of time and money in you, to train you up to really make the most of your time here. They make you a valued employee that adds value to the company. So when you leave you've learnt life lessons that you can take away and use for other jobs
Flexi Time
Sports and Social Club
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
The promotional structure and the reacceptance program is appealing - enough to consider going back. Especially as you can fit into company culture without going through training and introductions all over again,
The Culture
Yes, there around about 10 others in my department. We are constantly chatting, going out together and speaking on social media.,
As it was in City of London it can be very expensive. Managers and colleagues are generous to occasionally buy drinks/foods - especially as incentives,
Varied and good fun. Thursdays are the new Fridays.
As interns we arranged a 5-a-side football league within Hays, we got involved with Tough Mudder, quizzes, parties, table tennis, darts, chilli wing challenge (not recommended), bowling, laser tag and dodge ball.
