The Role
I have thoroughly enjoyed my time at Hays. Although certain elements of the job can be particularly difficultlt e.g. difficult client interaction, I feel I have been sufficiently supported by my colleagues and have enjoyed learning and developing new and existing skills.
Throughout my time at Hays I have felt that I have been extremely valued by my peers. All praise gets circulated onto a full office email and senior members of staff regularly come and take an interest in your development. From day one I have felt there has been a good atmosphere within the office and everyone has been friendly and supportive.office.
From when I commenced my placement in September my direct line manager has fully supported me during my years Internship. She has set aside time during her day to sit down and run through any issues and training. I cannot speak highly enough of my management.
There are a lot of different aspects to this internship that are relatively demanding in terms of trying to manage your time. Sometimes it can appear difficult to try and fit every required aspect in to one working day. However through the support of senior management I have learned to manage this much better.
As I was recruiting for schools I was given the responsibility of account managing for various schools across Liverpool. As well as this I was responsible for attempting to secure qualified teachers temporary and permanent work. I was also in charge of my own marketing, ensuring it was appropriate and to Hays standard.
Prior to this Internship I had no real sales or marketing experience. As marketing is a field in which I would like to go in then I believe that the skills I have learned in terms of client and candidate interaction as well as designing marketing will put me in an excellent position for after I complete university.
The Company
The office environment was very positive, during client focus days we regularly played games and had spot prizes throughout the day. Everybody within the office is very happy and welcoming and all have a positive attitude towards work.
I felt the organization of the internship was very good. I have regular progress meetings in which I had to present different elements that I had learned over the course of the year, similarly what I have to do for university. Perhaps if I had one criticism I though interaction between University and the company could have been more regular.
When first joining the business I was sent on a weeks training course to Manchester. Throughout various times throughout the year I was also sent on 2 and 1 day training courses to London an Leicester. Hays invest highly in their training off all interns.
Financial Bonus
Company Parties/Events
I believe my potential employment back with the company would be dependent on the specific desk that was available. I am used to working within the education sector so I would be unsure on how I well I would perform in a different sector of the company.
The Culture
Yes the office have regular staff nights out in which we socialize. Furthermore Hays also pay for colleagues to stay over in a hotel for the Christmas party which was a very fun and enjoyable occasion. Also attended charity boxing night in which we had front row seats at the boxing with a 3 course meal.
Liverpool has different social areas that differ in price however on the whole the cost of living and socializing is reasonable.
Nightlife is very good. Regularly go and have a drink on a Friday after work with my colleagues.
Me and some colleagues throughout the office regularly play 5 a side football on a Tuesday.
