The Role
I very much enjoyed my placement at Hays. It has been a rollercoaster of a journey and I have been challenged far more than expected on a palcement, but I wouldnlt change it. I have learnt new skills that I wouldn't have gained from any other palcement, I have become far more confident within myself and my knowledge of bsuiness as well as having the chance to expereince the working world.
I felt extremely valued throughout my placement at Hays. The word "intern" was rarely mentioned as I was treated like any other member of the organisation. I went through the same training and was trusted with the same responsibilty and tasks as any other employee within Hays. Colleagues would often come to me for information and advice about certain aspects of the role which was really rewarding.
I was supported throughout my whole placement at Hays. The managers were always happy to help and give advice when ever it was needed. Before I began the role to full extent of that was required my manager went through a 12 week training plan to make sure I had everything needed to perform the role to the best of my ability. I can not fault the help and guidance I have recieved.
I was very busy within my role at Hays. It is hard to say if I was too busy as no day is the same in the life of a recruitment consultant. Some days I would be out off the office on client visits, other days I would be interviewing candidates and there would be the odd day I would be catching up on paper work. Time management is key to this role, but there was always something that is willing to help me.
I was given a lot of responsibility throughout my placement at Hays. I was doing the same role as people who had been in the organisation for 6 years. I was not thrown into the deep end straight away as training and guidence is porvided throughout, but once I I had picked up what was required to perform the role to the best of my ability I was felt to my own devices to make the most of my placement.
I developed a lot of skills throughout my placement at Hays. Whilst studying my degree I tackled situations such as interviewing, client meetings and how to run my own business. This all came into play with this role. I was interviewing candidates and performing my own client meetings to win business. What I loved most about the role is that I had full control of the desk I ran. I was negotiating fees as well as palacing candidates in the roles I managed to win with the clients. This improved my time management skills, negotating stills as well as my confience.
The Company
The atmosphere throughout the business was great. There was a buzz across the office at all times due to everyone being on the phone whether it is to candidates or clients. Hays often ran competitions as well which was great as there was healthy competition throughout the office and UK. I cannot fault the atmosphere Hays has as you were rewarded for all the hard work and the incentives are something you want to work hard for.
My palcement was very well organised. I have mentioned previously that there is a 12 week training plan that we have to complete. There is also a week training in either London or Birmingham where you will be with other interns across the UK. There has been an awful lot of effort gone into the intern programme at Hays and it is very noticable.
The company has invested a lot of time into me. I have left like any other member of the organisation at Hays and I can't fault the help they have given me to learn the role I have performed as well has help with my personal skills such as time management, attention to detail.
Financial Bonus
The prospects of future employment is great at Hays. If you do well on your placement then there is a very high chance that you would be offered a role after you finish your degree. There is a noticable structure at Hays and the opportunity to move my way up when I come back is obtainable if I work hard.
The Culture
The social scene is good at Hays. We often do charity events to raise money for our chosen charity. Hays also enjoy celebrating a good month and the end of the financial year. Each year there are two black tie events one for the assoicates and Interns and the other is the Christmas party. They are great fun!
Bristol is a great city to live in. There is always an event on at the weekend and social scene is great for 西瓜视频s and people work. The cost of living can be high depending on where you live. I have been fortunate with the properties I have moved into, but I know other peers who are paying far more than me.
The nightlife is brilliant. There are two universities within Bristol so it is always busy and lively.
There are opportunites to get suck into all sorts of activities outside of work. I am a keen tabletennis player and I have been to a few clubs across the bristol area.
