Overview
Main part of the job is helping prepare the draft tax computations for clients. As part of the whole process, you may have to also calculate the fee quotes charged to clients, as well as draft the engagement agreement between the firm and the client
Skills
Previous to this role, I had no experience in accountancy. This role has given me some basic understanding of accounting, and helped me realise if I want to go into it all not. Also been good for developing communication and relationship-building skills in a corporate environment.
Responsibilities
A fair amount. Was able to complete the tasks independently with little oversight. Obviously, as any work would be, work is reviewed by a more senior member before it gets sent to the client.
Support & Guidance
The perfect amount. Not too much in that you were could attempt to work it out yourself, but at the same time they were always available to have a quick look or walk you through a process if you asked to.
Culture
Very relaxed atmosphere, but at the same time a very productive one. If people worked outside their standard hours it was more because they wanted to, rather it being an expectation from the firm.
Your Impressions
Overall, I very much enjoyed it. Team were great in helping me and most of the time I had meaningful work to do
Yes
Show a bit of personality in your interview. If you do an internship, make the most of it, and speak and meet as many people as you can
