Overview
My role involves assisting the Employment lawyers on a day-to-day basis with a wide range of work, as well as attending meetings with them as a note-taker. My key responsibilities involve: completing research tasks; filing correspondence/documentation onto the document management system; uploading cases onto the case management system; supporting with Knowledge Management and drafting emails to external counsel or HR.
Skills
I have learnt many useful practical legal skills such as: filing correspondence and documentation onto the document management system as well as uploading cases onto the case management system. I also regularly filed correspondence for a long-term project onto SharePoint and updated a summary tracker. My note-taking skills have also improved massively, and I have also gained administrative skills along the way.
Responsibilities
Yes, I was definitely given responsibility over legal research tasks and also was able to liaise with external counsel.
Support & Guidance
I received great support from my line manager throughout my internship and helpful guidance from the employment lawyers whilst working with them on tasks. I also gained a lot of useful knowledge in the weekly team meetings. There were also intern events, lunch & learns and bi-monthly meetings with the Intern Head which allowed me to feel supported and involved throughout the internship.
Culture
A friendly and professional environment.
